Description:


Calke Abbey is a baroque mansion, built in the early 18th century for Sir John Harpur, has stood still since the 1920s. It contains the family´s natural history collection, portraits and sporting pictures. The baroque state bed, with Chinese embroidered silk hangings, are unchanged since the 1880s. The attractive grounds feature a walled garden, a collection of garden buildings and a 19th century church. The park is a National Nature reserve.
