Shelton Lock is a small suburb in the south of the city of Derby located between Chellaston and Allenton. The area was named after the lock on the Derby Canal that once ran through the area but was shut in the 1960s.
The area is serviced by Merrill College for secondary education and also has an infant and junior school.
