Description:
Shopping in Derby is divided into two key sections. The first is a recently opened Westfield Shopping Centre, controlled by the Westfield Group.
This incorporating the former Eagle Centre and is the city's major indoor shopping centre with over 190 shops including a lot of popular high street chains such as Next, Monsoon, Dorothy Perkins, Debenhams, New Look, M&S and many more.
The shopping mall attracts more than 25,000,000 shoppers a year due to the vast amounts of parking space for the convenience of shoppers.
The second is the older section well-known as the Cathedral Quarter. This area includes a range of boutiques and coffee shops and is focused around the cathedral and the area around Irongate.
At the foot of Iron Gate is Market Hall which houses an indoor market selling clothes, fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and sweets. Another indoor market is in the Eagle Centre itself which is now part of the Westfield centre. Both these markets are open Monday to Saturday.
A farmers' market is held in Market Place on the third Thursday of every month and a Continental market on several occasions throughout the year.
There are also quite vibrant shopping centres situated in all the suburbs and along the main routes into Derby City Centre itself.
