The Derwent River is a tributary of the Trent river and flows through the city of Derby. The 50 mile  river flows through the peak district where it is a great tourist attraction with it's natural and beautiful scenery. 

It is also a habitat for many small animals, various insects, birds and fish. River Derwent played a major role in the industrial revolution from Matlock to Derby as the major power supply for cotton mills.
