Chatsworth House is a large country house in Chatsworth, Derbyshire, England 3½ miles northeast of Bakewell . It is the seat of the Dukes of Devonshire, and has been home to their family, the Cavendish family, since Bess of Hardwick settled at Chatsworth in 1549.
Chatsworth house, garden, farmyard & adventure playground, gift shops and restaurants are open every day until 23 December 2010. 2010 is a landmark year for Chatsworth, home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, with more of the house open to visitors than ever before. The 1000 acre park, the farm shop and its restaurant are open all year round.
Younger visitors and families particularly enjoy the farmyard with its wide variety of animals and their young, and the spectacular woodland adventure playground. From daily animal handling sessions, to fabulous water play and spiral slides, there is something for everyone.
