Description:
The Council House closed on Friday 17th December 2010 so that the building can be completely redeveloped. The cost of the redevelopment work will be £34 million.
All Council buildings and assets throughout the city will be reviewed in due course to see how we can use them more efficiently, saving money to re-invest in the city.
The refurbishment of the Council House is long overdue and it will enable us to provide all our customers and our staff, the majority of whom live in Derby, with a much improved environment.
By knocking down the internal walls and creating open plan office spaces, the council hope to accommodate more than double the number of people in the building, using the same footprint. This means some employees can be moved out of other office buildings around the city.
