Description:

The Silk Mill is Derby's industrial Museum located along the river Derwent. The Museum tells a story about the industrial heritage and achievement of Derby and its people.

It was Britain's first mill which was used to twist silk into thread and was built by George Sorocold in the early 1700. Displays in the museum include mining heritage, railway industry and the development of the Rolls Royce aero engines.
