Alvaston Park lies 2 miles south of Derby city centre. Facilities include nine football pitches, 8 tennis courts, a skateboard circuit, a cricket pitch and a BMX  track. The adjacent Derwent River provides water sports and fishing.

The car park can be accessed via Meadow Lane which is off London Road. The park also has a tree trail with species from many different countries.
