Nearly 50 jobs at risk in Derbyshire

12 May 2010

Description:

Forty six people working at the accident repair centre in Castle Donington could be losing their jobs as Royal Bank of Scotland's announced the axing of 2,600 staff.

The garage at the Willow Farm Business Park is owned by the bank as part of Churchill Car Insurance. The chief executive officer of RBS Insurance, Paul Geddes confirmed that a consultation process with the affected employees had started.

The bank has been asked to sell its insurance business and 318 branches by the European Commission.

The big job cuts are designed to make the business more attractive to its potential buyers but it is as yet unclear whether these measures will affect the hundreds of people employed by the Royal Bank of Scotland in Derbyshire.
