The £48m Derby College campus’s Roundhouse restoration in Pride Park, Derby has won the first prize in this year's RICS East Midlands Awards.
Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) award is the most prestigious prize in the UK property industry in 2010. 29 projects were submitted by universities, local government, private sector developers, and regional bodies.
The Award winning Derby Roundhouse scheme involved restoration, alteration and new build as part of Derby College's main city campus.
It also picked up the regeneration award and a highly commended certificate in the building conservation group.
College principal David Croll said: "We are absolutely delighted.
Stephen Anelay, lead judge for the East Midlands, said: "We chose the Roundhouse at Derby College because it is a truly innovative project which makes a significant contribution to the regeneration of the area adjacent to Derby Railway Station.
"It has also saved unique and historic railway buildings, which were in danger of being lost to decay and vandalism."
