Alt Fiction (12 June 2010 )
Derby’s festival for alternative fiction is a one-day event focusing on the genres of science-fiction, fantasy and horror, featuring some of the top authors in the field.
There will also be a number of publishers in attendance, including Angry Robot Books, Gollancz, Solaris, Abaddon and BBC Books, while genre agents John Berlyne and John Jarrold will also be sharing their considerable experience.

Download Festival (11-13 June 2010)
The Download Festival at Donington on Park features more heavy metal bands than you can shake a studded wristband at.
Headliners are AC/DC, Rage Against the Machine and Aerosmith, Deftones, Megadeath, Motorhead
Weekend ticket with camping cost between £170-£180
Weekend ticket only £145 while day tickets is £75

Derbyshire County Show, Elvaston (27 June 2010)
Derby county Show is on the 27th of June 2010 at the Showground in Elvaston as usual. Each year a tremendous amount of thought and effort is put into the attractions for Derby county show to be full of all the fun of a traditional family County Show one could ever imagine! This year is no exception.
So whether it's the children, Mums and Dads, Grannies and Grandads – they will have a day out to remember.

CAMRA Summer Beer Festival (7 - 11 July 2010)
Derby is the Real Ale capital of England, and local producers come out in force for the annual CAMRA Summer Beer Festival. The Assembly Rooms are mobbed by beer-lovers eager to sample the scores of real ales on offer.

The Big Fun Run (21 Aug 2010)
Derby gets active as The Big Fun Run comes to Darley Park. The 5km organised annual run invites people of all ages to take part, in the name of fun and of whatever charity you want to support.
The Big Fun Run takes place in four other cities across the UK on different dates: Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Milton Keynes. All participants - no matter how fast or slow - receive a Big Fun Run medal and goodie bag.

Derby City Council Bonfire and Fireworks (7 November 2010)
Every year, Derby's Markeaton Park hosts an impressive pyrotechnic display to commemorate the 1605 attempt by Guy Fawkes to blow up the Houses of Parliament.
The free event is accompanied by a funfair.
