Up to £5,000 transport grants to reduce car use

Community groups across Derbyshire are being invited to bid for a share of £42,000 to reduce car use. Up to £1,000 is available to fund transport running costs or posters and leaflets to advertise projects.

Groups can apply for up to £5,000 for measures such as bikes, bikes stands, or setting up a car share scheme. The county council scheme is available in North East Derbyshire, Amber Valley, Erewash and South Derbyshire and High Peak and Derbyshire Dales. The closing date for applications is 27 November.

The council said small scale improvements to help people get to the shops, doctors, education and training and jobs and leisure outlets could make a big difference.
