M1 Work in Derbyshire is due to begin

Description:

Work to help reduce congestion and improve safety on the M1 in Derbyshire is due to begin.

Improvements include strengthening and resurfacing the hard shoulder and sections of lane one between Tibshelf service area and junction 30 which is an 11-mile stretch.

The work is in preparation for opening up the hard shoulder to traffic during peak times.Speed limits will be in place while the improvements - which are due to be completed by February 2010 - are carried out.

Some closures of entry and exit slip roads will be in place and diversion routes set up.
