Schools admission deadline close

Derbyshire County Council is urging parents with children who are due to enter primary and infant school next September to apply now. Closing date for applications is Friday the 11^th of December.  

The phone number for application packs is 08456 058 058 and applications can also be made online at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/admissions. Parents can state up to three preferences when applying and a letter or email will be sent out as confirmation when application is received. It is really important to apply before the deadline as late applicants will only be considered after all other applications.

Derbyshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Education, Councilor Mike Longden, said that the council was keen to work with parents to make sure that starting school remained a positive experience for children. He also added that the council was committed to helping children achieve their full potential in a safe and caring environment. 

Parents can get help on choosing schools from unbiased choice advisors who work alongside Derbyshire Council. These advisors will help parents interpret information such as Ofsted reports.

Decisions letters will be sent out to parents at the end of March 2010.
