Description:
To let you into a little secret of mine, when I was asked to go along and watch the Snow Queen, I was like I didn’t even know what the story line was and therefore became very excited of the fact that I was going to my first Theatre Production and going to watch a show that I had never heard off before.
We got to our seats full of excitement and wondering what was stored in for us. The scene of the theatre was in a manner house and at the back of the set was a scene set of snow, which really made me excited and curious, and it just reminded me of the old fashion Christmas films, where snow was coming down and really made me excited about Christmas.
To my amazement I quickly became engaged with the story line because of the wonderful HC (Daniel Crossley) played the narrator. It was amazing, the way he made the audience feel such a big part of the production, and he made me laugh for sure, it was just such a great idea, so for people like myself who had never heard of the story before, I was able to pick up on the story very quickly and thoroughly enjoyed the production.
In a small summary the production was about a guy called Kay who gets sucked in by the soulless and vindictive snow Queen who charms him with two kisses. However he has a friend called Gerda, his best friend who cannot except that he has gone and sets out on a long and perilous journey to rescue him from the wicked queen. Gerda has a very adventurous journey and comes across many people who will help her in her quest to rescue her friend. The overall messages of this production were that “not every thing is what they seem and the triumph of love over wickedness”.
The story consisted of 7 short stories, which made it easier for the viewers to understand, the use of humour, using modern life examples into an old great made it appealing to all ages, but still keeping the original story line alive and just as exciting.
Some parts of the story either had a scary, funny or romantic angle appealing to all ages, for which I didn’t see one unimpressed face after watching the production.
To sum this production in three words is that it was “magical, thrilling and exciting” for all the family to watch and was truly an amazing production with an amazing cast. I would certainly recommend this to family and friends. It certainly is a heart warming festive treat for all the family this festive season.
