Fallen heroes memorial preserved

25 January 2010

Description:

More than 40 employees from BemroseBooth killed during the First World War will have their memorial listing preserved.

The building where the memorial listing is housed will be sold next month. Ivygrove Developments, the company which bought the eight-acre site for £3m, will start refurbishment and development work once Bemrose Booth leaves in February.

There had been fears that the memorial might be removed as part of the redevelopment but both firms have issued assurances that it will remain.

The memorial details the names of the 43 who were killed and reads: "To the glory of God and in memory of the following men of this firm who fell serving their country during the Great War."
