Half Term; Fun for Children in Derby

Yes! It’s that time of the year again, you just can’t believe that the kids are off again, with the Christmas holidays only feeling so not so long ago (like last week). So how are you going to survive, with the kids going I’m bored and trying to drive you crazy!  So at Guide2Derby we have some perfect solutions to keep the kids entertained.

Quad are offering a selection of digital and creative workshops and films over the February Half Term.

• A family workshop called “Creative Diaries" taking place on Saturday 13th at 10:00 am - 12:00am and Monday 15th Feb at 10:00 am - 12:00. The workshop offers a chance to make a creative diary book to record half term school holiday activities. The cost is £3.00 per child or adult place, or £10.00 family of four. • Digital workshops offering a unique chance to use the latest technology to learn a new skill. The workshops will take place from 10:15 am to 12:45 pm. Places for each of these workshops’ is £20 per person. Places are limited and can to be booked through the QUAD Box office.

• Film Making - Monday 15th Feb from 10:15 am - 12:45. The workshops offer a chance to gain hands on experience from local filmmakers on using Digital Video Cameras and editing software to create a short movie.

• Fake Movie Posters - Tuesday 16th Feb from 10:15 am - 12:45. Fake movie posters offer a chance to create a unique movie poster with participants as "the star" using green screen, photography and design software

• Cut - out Animation - Wednesday 17th Feb from 10:15 am - 12:45. Cut-out animation offers the chance to learn the basics of   2D animation and create a short animation

• 3D Stop- Animation - Thursday 18th from 10:15 am - 12:45. 3D stop-animation offers the chance to learn the basics of 3D stop Motion animation by creating a short animation using toys and other objects.

• Garage Band - Music Production from Friday 19th Feb from 10:15 am - 12:45pm. Garage Band - Music Production offers the chance to learn the basics of music production with Garage Band including using loops and samples. For more information, click here

• Calke Abbey are also offering Half Term fun days with some exciting half term activities in Squirts Stables. However some of the activities may take place outside dependent on weather. Click here for more information.

• The Assembly Rooms are also showing “Moscow State Circus” it is known as the greatest show on earth which has had a face lift and been revolutionised, it is certainly an opportunity not to miss out on. Click here for more information.

• Churnet View Middle School are also offering Half Term Fun, where your child can learn on how to maintain their bike, stay safe and enjoy fun games. Everybody will receive a free goody bag. Click here for more information.
