Description:
An innovative training company and an environmentally friendly waste management firm are the Derbyshire businesses lining up alongside some of the country’s most successful companies in a leading national awards scheme.
Evolution Training, from Chesterfield and Vital Earth, from Ashbourne, have both been shortlisted in the British Chambers of Commerce’s 2011 Business Awards, which were created to celebrate the UK’s best businesses.
The companies go into the national finals after scooping the regional awards in their respective categories.
Evolution Training scooped the regional Most Promising New Business title, whilst Vital Earth was named East Midlands Business of the Year and also won the regional Sustainability Award.
George Cowcher, Chief Executive of the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “The Chamber’s congratulations go to Vital Earth and Evolution Training for their success at the regional business awards.
“These two firms have demonstrated commitment, creativity and a determination to succeed during what has been another challenging year and it’s absolutely fantastic that Derbyshire has enjoyed so much success at the regional awards, with representatives in three categories at the British Chambers’ prestigious national business awards in November.
“Out of the nine regional awards this year, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire produced finalists in six of the categories, which once again provides compelling evidence that these two counties truly are the engine room of the East Midlands economy.”
Evolution Training delivers leadership and management training packages for a range of customers including employers from SMEs to local authorities and hotel groups. The firm has seen growth due to investment as well as improved efficiencies from new systems that help staff cost, profile and work delivery.
Vital Earth turns 85,000 tonnes of domestic green garden waste collected by the local authority into award-winning compost and fertilisers each year, creating more than 30 specialist composts for gardeners and saving the waste from landfill.
Having won regional awards, both firms are now in the running for the national title in their winning categories, as well as the chance to collect the Award for Outstanding Business Achievement – with a top prize of £25,000 and runner-up prizes of £15,000 and £10,000.
The national winners will be announced at a ceremony at London’s Grand Connaught Rooms on November 24th 2011.
