Description:
Mother’s day is celebrated in May in most countries, but in England it’s the third Sunday in Lent. Therefore there’s no fixed date for mother’s day as it’s always the middle Sunday of lent. In England, this year’s celebration is on the 14th of March 2010.
History of Mother’s day
Mother’s day was known as Mothering Sunday many years ago. It’s not known how the name Mothering Sunday began but it was adopted by Christians many years ago whereby this Sunday referred to the heavenly Jerusalem as "the Mother of all us all", and this may have prompted the customs we still see today.
Mothers Day at Present
Mother’s day is one of the special dates of the year where you say thank you to your mum. This is by giving gifts like; flowers, spa treatments and pamper treats, days out to theatres, restaurants, cinemas and hotel breaks.
