Derby's range of high-street names and independent outlets offer something for everyone seven days a week, and stopping for a well-earned break at one of the city's great range of eateries is never a strain.

Shopping in Derby is divided into two key sections.

Firstly is the recently opened Westfield Shopping Centre, controlled by the Westfield Group.

Secondly is the older section well-known as the Cathedral Quarter.

Westfield Shopping Centre:  opened on Tuesday 9 October 2007 replacing the former Eagle Centre. Open every day, the mall is said to have changed the face of Derby's shopping centre attracting many visitors from out of town.

The mall has 732,000 square feet of retail space with over 190 retail stores including; Debenhams, Marks and Spencer, Topshop, Oasis, La Senza, W. H. Smith, Zara, Monsoon, River Island and many more.

The shopping mall also has a food court, seating over 800 people located at the 2nd level of the building with 12 food retailers who prepare popular international cuisines.

On the 3rd floor is the Showcase Cinema de Lux, with a wealth of fantastic facilities including two intimate Director's Halls with ultra leather loveseats and a full service restaurant.

Westfield Derby also consists of 2,000 parking spaces while you enjoy your day shopping in Derby city centre.

The Cathedral Quarter: This area includes a range of boutiques and coffee shops and is focused around the cathedral and the area around Irongate.

The traditional Cathedral Quarter shows off the old world charm of the city, where as Westfield Derby offers a modern indoor shopping experience.

At the foot of Iron Gate is Market Hall which houses an indoor market selling clothes, fruit, vegetables, meat, fish and sweets.

Another indoor market is in the Eagle Centre itself which is now part of the Westfield centre. Both these markets are open Monday to Saturday.

There’s also a farmers' market held in the Market Place on the third Thursday of every month and a Continental market on several occasions throughout the year.
